The table displayed shows the differences between inhaled and exhaled air.
These differences occur because the body needs to take oxygen from the air
for the process of respiration whereas carbon dioxide and water are excreted
in the exhaled air. Nitrogen and the noble gases are not needed or produced
by respiration, so their percentages do not change.
